Respiratory Care at LVH

Respiratory Care at LVH

Our Respiratory Care Department is growing, and we’re looking for energetic, skilled clinicians to join our team. We provide inpatient respiratory care to patients – newborns through senior citizens – around the clock using therapist-driven protocols. As an integral part of the care team we consult with nurses, physicians and other members of the health care team to determine the best care for patients. Our commitment to research-based practice and continuing education helps us continue to meet standards of excellence that make us a leader in respiratory care.

Advanced Care in Various Specialties

As a member of our team you will use state-of-the-art equipment to care for patients in the following areas: critical care, medical-surgical, pediatric/neonatal, emergency, pulmonary function testing, sleep apnea testing, operating rooms, outpatient ancillary diagnostic clinics, air and ground transportation and smoking cessation. If you have an Asthma Certification, you’ll have the opportunity to use it at all three of our campuses.

Lehigh Valley Hospital has a Level 1 Trauma Center (Pennsylvania’s first, and the only one in the Lehigh Valley region certified for adults and children) and a Level III Neonatal Center. Our Regional Burn Center cares for pediatric and adult burn patients from 32 Pennsylvania counties and three neighboring states.

Our advanced care includes an electronic charting system. MetaVision, one of the most sophisticated systems in the industry, automatically captures and transmits data from ventilators and bedside monitors eliminating bedside paperwork and giving clinicians more time to spend with patients. This system works in conjunction with our tele-intensivist program, or Advanced ICU. High-resolution audio-visual systems allow intensivist physicians at a remote location to see a patient and talk with members of the care team in the patient’s room during the night. Through the automatic charting system intensivists are alerted to serious changes in the patient’s condition so they can act immediately to address any problems.

Support to Grow Professionally

We strongly encourage continuing education and offer support to help you grow professionally. In addition to hosting conferences, we offer support so you can attend and present at local and national conferences. The network also provides tuition reimbursement to assist employees who return to school.

As a member of our team, you’ll participate in clinical trials and have a voice in decision making through our professional practice model and various department committees. Also, reaching out to our community is important to us, so we volunteer for local programs like Ventilator Camp and Asthma Camp.
